How's Your Wellness Score?

How's Your Wellness Score?

August 11, 20262 min read

August is National Wellness Month, which sounds like a good excuse to check in with yourself.

But we don’t mean with a scale, a stopwatch, or some guilt-inducing list of things you’re supposed to do or not do.

Just ask a few simple questions to help you focus. Give yourself one point for every "yes." Then see where you land.

□I strength train at least twice a week.

Strong muscles make everyday life easier. They help you climb stairs, carry groceries, get up off the floor, and stay independent for years to come.

□I move every day, even if it's just a walk.

It doesn't have to be a workout. Walking the dog, gardening, or taking the long way through the parking lot all count.

□I usually eat fruits or vegetables every day.

Nobody eats perfectly. The goal is to make healthy choices more often than not. This is a basic part of that.

□I usually sleep seven to eight hours most nights.

Your body and brain do a lot of repair work and maintenance while you're asleep. Good sleep helps your mood, memory, energy, and recovery.

□I spend time with people I enjoy every week.

Coffee with a friend. Lunch with family. Religious or recovery group. A workout partner. We all need other people.

□I make time to laugh.

A funny movie. Silly grandkids. A favorite comedian. Laughter won't solve every problem, but it truly is good medicine.

□I spend time outside several times a week.

Fresh air has a way of clearing your head. Even 15 or 20 minutes can change your outlook. And don’t forget the benefits of natural Vitamin D, sunshine.

□I have something I'm looking forward to.

This could be a vacation, a concert, or a new book, even. It gives us a list just to have something on the calendar.

Your Score

7-8 points: Nice work. You're building habits that support good, holistic health. Keep doing what you're doing for ongoing wellness.

4-6 points: You're on the right track. Pick one area that could use a little attention. Small improvements add up.

0-3 points: You don't need to fix everything this week. Choose one habit. Once it feels natural, add another.

That's really how wellness works. One good thing leads to another because they’re all connected.

It's about making one good choice, then another, until healthy habits become your normal routine.

This is a fun, little quiz to get us talking, and it will change over time. Because life changes, right? We all get busy, our schedules drift… so does our attention.

Consistency is the goal, noticing when you've wandered and gently steer yourself back.

If you're looking for the best place to start, we suggest strength training. It improves balance, protects your muscles and bones, makes everyday tasks easier, protects your brain, and helps you keep doing the things you love, whatever they are.

So, come work out with us. We’ll keep you strong for life.
